Since 1917 A.S. May has been an integral part of the Food Brokerage business and since inception we have strived for excellence to ensure that your products are on the shelf, merchandised properly and to the best of our ability selling.

A.S. May Timeline

1917

The year Albert May started his food brokerage business. 

Delmonte Dried Fruit was one the first Clients. 50 years later, A.S. May received an award celebrating 50 Years in partnership.

1917

1919

Crosby Molasses was added to a growing Client list.

 

AJR “Jack” May joined A.S. May [son of Albert May] becoming Managing Director in 1947 and      President in 1968 with the passing of the Company’s founder – Albert May.

1934

1934

A.S. May extended into the Fresh and Canned Seafood business with the West Coast and 83 years later, the company, now called Ocean Brands has become a vibrant business with the Gold Seal and Ocean Brands’ labels.

Old South Frozen Florida Orange Concentrate was introduced by A.S. May to the Ontario marketplace, expanding to a National Brand.

1939

1963-1998

Blue Water Seafoods, Hunt Wesson Canada, Penobscot & Frozen Foods, Renee’s Salad Dressing,  Jets Soap Pads to name a few Clients were all successfully introduced.

Dave Cardy was appointed President by A.S. May shareholder group lead by A.J.R. May.

1990

1992

Jack May passed away.

David Cardy become the sole owner of A.S. May.

1996

1998

A.S. May {Dave Cardy} and CB Powell {Tim Powell} entered into a Partnership with a handshake.              Nineteen {19} years later, the partnership continues.

A.S. May entered into paperless Retail Technology System.

2017

2017

100 Years Later – March 1 – A.S. May Powell is celebrating the Company’s 100th Anniversary. Celebrating the same year as the Toronto Maple Leafs and the National Hockey League. Our Clients and Customers have brought us to this point in history.
